Follow-up questions: the other players can ask for details. When the conversation moves to a specific finished time (When did it happen? Where were you? What did you do?), switch to the past simple.

How to play

  1. Play in groups of 2 to 6 on one phone. Take turns and pass the phone to the next player.
  2. Roll the dice. The orange die gives the row and the cream die gives the column. The card in that square is your question.
  3. Start the timer and answer the question. Try to speak for as long as you can. The other players can ask follow-up questions.
  4. Points: 30 seconds = 1 point. At 1 minute a bell rings and you have 2 points, but the timer keeps going. 1:30 = 3 points. At 2 minutes the timer stops automatically with a louder bell, and you have 4 points.
  5. After answering, mark the card as done or leave it on the board. Cards marked as done are replaced with new questions the next time someone rolls the dice.
  6. Golden ★ squares: ask any player a question of your own using the present perfect simple or continuous. The player who answers gets the points.

Grammar reminder. Use the present perfect simple for experiences and results (I've been to Rome twice), and the present perfect continuous for activities that have been in progress recently or up to now (I've been reading a lot lately). Use the past simple for follow-up details about a finished time (I went there in 2022).
